Generalization of the Circular Dichroism from Metallic Arrays That Support Bloch-Like Surface Plasmon Polaritons

The broken mirror symmetry in subwavelength photonic systems has manifested many interesting chiroptical effects, such as optical rotation and circular dichroism. When are placed periodically a lattice form, addition to intrinsic chirality, extrinsic chirality also takes part, the overall effect depends not only on basis but excitation configuration. Here, we study planar chiral nanohole arrays square that support Bloch-like surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) clarify how system geometry contribute By using temporal coupled mode theory, dissymmetry factor scattering matrix of analytically formulated. Remarkably, find coupling polarization angle in-coupling phase difference between p- s-polarizations. Furthermore, upper limit at \ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2 can be reached simply by orienting for properly exciting SPPs same time making mimic two orthogonal relatively displaced dipoles, demonstrating interplay chirality. models have been verified numerical simulations experiments, yielding factors 1.82 1.55, respectively, from proposed dual slot system.
